1.1.33 Energy Portfolio:
Energy industry evolution is away from the few large generators to each home being a micro-generator.   It is not logical for any home not to be desked out in solor panels to generate their own free electricity.   As the unit cost of energy increases, people will become more motivated to generate their own free electricity.
An initial target may be for energy applications to be able to provide all the energy requirements of a home or business for say 8 months of the year.   Electric energy suppliers will be used to top up the daily requirement for the other 4 months of the year when solar energy is limited by the number of hours of daylight.
Eventually, most homes can become self sufficient in energy and have zero external energy costs.   Internal battery maintenance costs will exist, but this technology gets better every year.

Energy Management:
Energy management begins with monitoring equipment - we have many energy monitoring applications that are critical for offices and homes.   When the cost and usage of energy is properly understood, then insuation can be cost justified, heat pumps can be cost justified and water recovery becomes viable.   Energy management has eco and environmental overtones, but money is the only true factor involved.

Electricity:
A each home becomes a micro-generator of electricity using renewable solar and wind, the cost of electricity will tend towards zero.   The contrast between a real electric town car with no fuel, no servicing and minimum insurance costs with a petrol vehicle with high servicing and high insurance costs will become unsustainable.   When cheap plastic electric town cars are rented, then the idea of owning a petrol vehicle with a polished metal body will look like a silly comparision.
