47.01. ISO 14001 Environment Management Standard
1. It is a business requirement that all partners in the supply chain share a similar environmental policy to protect the environment in a fair and reasonable way.   EMS is managed by the Facilities Manager.
2. Environmental management is aimed:-
  (1) To protect the environment or mitigating adverse environmental impacts.
  (2) To mitigate the potential adverse eeffect of environmental conditions on the business.
  (3) To assist the business in the fulfilment of compliance obligations.
  (3) To enhance environmental performance.
  (3) To control the way that business services are commissioned, designed, operated and terminated by using a life cycle perspective that can prevent environmental impacts from being unintentially shifted elsewhere within the life cycle.
  (3) To achieve financial and operational benefits that can result from implementing environmentally sound alternatives that strengthen the supply chain.
  (3) To communicate environmental information to interested parties in the supply chain.

2. Glossary of Terms:
EMS means Environmental Management Service as the subject of ISO 14001 standard.

Environmental Management Service - Chapters:
1. Introduction all the processes and procedures (activities) at the place of work.
2. Executive Summary with the help of all involved people )workers) whether any procedure has significant associated hazards that could cause harm.
3. Glossary risks that can leas to serious injury (accidents or long term sickness) by removing the hazard, modifying the work process aand protecting the people involced (workers).
4. Context of the Organisation whether the measures you have put in place to protect people are working properly and that the rules are being followed.
5. Leadership by always looking out for what could be done better and more safely.
6. Planning by always looking out for what could be done better and more safely.
7. Support by always looking out for what could be done better and more safely.
8. Operation by always looking out for what could be done better and more safely.
9. Performance Evaluation by always looking out for what could be done better and more safely.
10. Improvement by always looking out for what could be done better and more safely.

2. Plan Do Check Act (PDCA):
1. Plan is covered by Context of the Organisation (4), Leadership (5), Scope of the EMS, Internal and External Issues, Needs and Expectations of Interested Parties to establish objectives and processes needed to deliver results in accordance with the environmental policy.
2. Do is covered by Support (7) and Operation (8) as the implementation of the processes as planned.
3. Check is covered by Performance Evaluation (9) to monitor and measure processes against the environmental policy, including its commitments, objective and operating criteria, and report the results.
4. Act is covered by Improvement (10) to take actions to continually improve.

3. Environmental Policy:
1. The business by a supply chain of partners is the provision of bespoke application services with continual improvements to companies in all parts of the world.   The supply chain of partners may act like and can be treated as a single company, however no one company could expect to recruit and retain the large spectrum of qualified skills and experienced knowledge that is needed to provide the bespoke application services to many companies.
2. The business is an internet-based service to any kind of computing device without the provision of any hardware or software.   Environmental factors apply to the multitude of data centers that provide the service and to the people who manage the service.
3. Data centers have a massive energy requirement that is the focus of many environmental improvement processes.
4. People have a travel, energy and equipment recycling needs that are the source of many environmental improvement processes.

4. Environmental Audit:
1. The quality audit to ISO 14001 standard shall only be conducted on chapters 4 to 10 of the EMS.   Chapters 1 to 3 are not audited and do not need to comply with any standard.

5. Company Car Policy:
1. It is not good for the environment and so it is not good for any employees in the supply chain to have a company car.   The daily commute to work by car is no longer acceptable to the environment and must be avoided.   Sales do not need people traveling excessive distances each year to have face-to-face meetings with prospects - electronic communications is better for the environment, better for the sales person and better for prospects.
2. People who need a car to travel from rural areas may need to move to urban area that have adequate taxies, busses, trams, trains and the benefit of a walk to work.   The evolution of people moving from rural to urban areas has increased in the last decade, but as Internet speeds increase, physical location will become less of an issue.   People have the right to choose any mode of transport that they wish to use, but the company is not involved in any way.
3. People who choose to commute must pay their own travel costs and must travel in their own time.   People who choose not to commute do not have any travel costs and have more time to spend doing what they wish to do - its also better for the environment.
4. Travel on company business has expenses paid for at the current tax authority rates in the country where the person pays taxes.   Taxies (plus gratuities) and airline tickets while on company business are paid in full. Meals (plus gratuities) and accommodation while on company business are paid in full.
5. The very best people are recruited from any part of any country with little concern for physical location - people can choose where they work.   Office-centric companies will never be able to compete because the best people in the world do not live in one place that is commutable to one office.   The supply chain of partnerships is the only viable structure to bring together the worlds leading people for the benefit of hundreds of customers.
