1.2.14. Mission is Business Continuity:
Customer demands that application services are always available and are never down for any reason.   Old ideas of an application service being down for maintenance is no longer acceptable.   Business hours have increased with the typical Executive working day being from 7am to 7pm - old ideas of working hours are no longer acceptable.
As businesses interact with other businesses in other parts of Europe and around the world, then demand for application services is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.   It is not acceptable for an application service to not be available for any reason.

Business Requirement:
The number one business requirement is Business Continuity to continually provide application services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.   When an application service is not available for any reason, then the number one business requirement becomes Business Continuity.   Redundant equipment, replicated data centers and no single point of failure come together to provide application services that do not fail.

4. Business Continuity:
Application services are designed to operate continually without interuptions for any purpose.   Multiple data centers are deployed to ensure that in the event that one data center is not operational then business can continue from another data center.

Backup:
Data is contiinually replicated to multiple secure remote data centers so traditional backup facilities is not needed.   Each database is encrypted and encrypted message switching is deployed to replicate data between several data centers.   Within a short period of time, data that is changed in one database is automatically changed in at least one other database.

Multiple Domain Names:
In the event that a domain name is the subject of a directibuted Denial of Service (DDoS) attack, business can rapidly to migrated to a different domain name at a different data center.   While precautions can be taken to minimise the effect of any disaster, in the final analysis, to switch domains to a different data center in a different part of the country is bound to circumvent any disaster.
