1.2.12 Mission is Evolutionary Improvements:
Customer demands that application services evolve at the same speed as ther business evolves.   It is not acceptable that the business is constratined to old methods of working while competitors enjoy more productive procedures.   When a new business opportunity is detected, application services need to be able to quickly respond to maximise advantages, market share and profitability.   Customers demand rapid and continual improvements as a large number of small changes.

Business Requirement:
The only way that an application service can survive ten years or more is to continually evolve and remain current, relevant and effective.   Applications that do not improve will wither away and die.   Applications that have a massive annual new release will have high training costs that will cause it to be less effective and eventually not be used.
The business requirement is very simple - continual simple evolutionary improvemnts that are rapidy provided without impact on what people do each day.

2. Continual Improvements:
Relentless continual evolutionary improvements are absolutly mandatory to maintain application services.   While competitors may choose to charge for each change, it is critical to the long term survival of application services that they always mirror current business requirements.   As the business evolves, then application services must also evolve at the same time - application services can always evolve to support a new business opportunity.

Evolutionary Improvements:
Relentless continual evolutionary improvements mean that applications and the business can evolve at the same time.   Small evolutionary improvements do not have a re-trainng cost as people can pick up and use the new facilities without any impact on their daily work.   By never having to wait for a new release, application services can evolve during the working day without any downtime.
If a new field is added to a form, staff can quickly be advised of the purpose and use of the new field and include it in their working procedures without any delay.   If a new document is involved, then that new document will simply improve productivity by automating the creation of critical information to be sent to a business associate.

Maintence:
Application service can be constructed to be very easy to be change or very expensive to maintain.   Where a company pay for the initial development, then the quality of the service may be of the lowest possible quality that is very expensive to maintain.   Where the application Service Provider invests in the initial development, then the quality of the service will be of the highest possible quality that can be rapidly improved and expanded.

Services:
Application services are very different to obsolete software developments - services must be efficient because the cost of operation must be minimized.   While software vendors have little concern about operational efficiency, ASP must enasure that services are of the very highest quality.
Application services are supported by educational documentation, videos and ebooks.   While the cost of improving an application may be modest, the cost of improving related education material is normally greater.
